Abstract: Cerebral palsy (CP) is one of the most common diseases of the nervous system leading to developmental disabi-lity. Comprehensive rehabilitation is still the main treatment in children with mild to moderate CP, but it has limited effects for children with severe CP. Stem cell transplantation is a new treatment for this disease which has obtained some meaningful results based on extensive studies including basic experiments and clinical researches. Currently, stem cell transplantation is still in its infancy, subject to many restrictions in the clinical application. This review will summarize the research progress of stem cell transplantation in children with severe cerebral palsy in recent years.
