Abstract: Epilepsia partialis continua (EPC) is a kind of focal status epilepticus caused by abnormal discharge of cortical neurons, which leads to localized and continuous muscle contraction (interval time is not more than 10 seconds, duration time is not less than 1 hour). The etiology of EPC determines its clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis. This paper reviews the progress of diagnosis and treatment of EPC from the perspective of etiology, so as to improve the understanding of EPC.
